What does it mean to be powered by Brighton Jones?

Brighton Jones, a nationally-recognized Registered Investment Advisor, was founded on the fundamental belief that wealth management should be about more than growing and protecting wealth—it should be about empowering people to live a richer life.

The Brighton Jones institutional asset management team eases the burden of administering your retirement plan and protects your businesses from the risks and liabilities associated with it. Employees choose from easy to understand investment options, with direct access to expert advisors and a wealth of educational resources to help them personalize their plan and get on the path to financial wellbeing.

OpenPlan® is powered by the same philosophy and approach that Brighton Jones deploys with over $19 billion in assets under advisement.

What is a 3(38) fiduciary?
What is a 3(38) fiduciary?

The 3(38) investment manager is appointed by the plan sponsor to manage investments and has discretionary responsibilities. They are responsible for the selection, monitoring, and replacement of investment options as needed. They will often act as a plan consultant by helping to manage other providers, as well as provide financial education.

They assume a complete investment fiduciary stance as recognized by ERISA. They must acknowledge this status in writing, as well as have a written agreement with the plan sponsor. Only an RIA, bank, or insurance company can assume this role.

Although the 3(38) investment manager is responsible for making financial decisions, the plan sponsor is still responsible for ensuring the advisor fulfills their obligations.

How is OpenPlan® different from robo-advisors?
How is OpenPlan® different from robo-advisors?

At their core, robo-advisors offer an investment product. It is easier than ever before for investors to access low-cost, globally-diversified managed portfolios.

OpenPlan® does not compete with robo-advisors, we complement them. True financial plans, like the ones we create for our clients, are about more than just investments. They consider things like risk planning and insurance, estate planning, taxes, real estate and debt, cash flow, and more.
